Welcome from the Principal

Thank you for your interest in Hetton Academy, part of Northern Education Trust.

My focus is on outcomes, such as exam qualifications, experiences and learning opportunities. We believe that this is the purpose of a successful academy, and we are very proud that we do this by putting children at the centre of every decision we make. Our students are the most important people in our building.

We are keen for everyone to understand our vision:

“We constantly focus on standards as we understand outcomes are paramount. Our decision making is driven entirely by what is best for children. By doing this we enhance the life chances of the children and young people in our care.”

Although we believe that outcomes are the most important thing, this does not just mean GCSE qualifications. We also believe that our school must be a place where students can experience new and exciting opportunities outside the classroom and academy. Opportunities that develop friendships, leadership, teamwork, and other personal qualities. Developing a strong enrichment programme is something that is important to us I and we are passionate about encouraging our students to take as many chances to get involved as they can.

We look forward to every day, caring for our students and we hope that they grow to be proud of what they achieve on their journey with us through Hetton Academy.
